What is Slack AI?
Thread and channel summaries plus conversational search across your workspace history. For teams whose institutional knowledge is buried in three years of messages, the search is worth more than the summaries.
The honest value is search. Most small companies have made every important decision of the last two years in a Slack thread and written none of them down, and being able to ask where something was decided recovers real knowledge.
The summaries are pleasant and not transformative. The upgrade has to be justified by the search.
What does Slack AI cost in the UK?
From £3.5 per user per month.
What to watch on the price
Figure read from the vendor pricing page on 25 August 2026 and not re-checked. Slack prices UK accounts in pounds.
Does Slack AI train AI models on your data?
Opt out
Slack states: "If you want to exclude your Customer Data from helping to train Slack global models, you can opt out." So the default is in, and an admin has to act. Slack adds that "we do not build or train these models in such a way that they could reproduce some part of Customer Data." Read on 30 August 2026.

Where does Slack AI fall short?

- Search is only as good as your message history — private channels stay invisible to it
- No reason to adopt Slack for this
Who is Slack AI for?
A good fit for
- Teams already on Slack
- Distributed teams
- Anyone returning from leave
Not for
- Businesses not already on Slack — this is not a reason to move
- Teams whose knowledge sits in private channels the search cannot see
