Magnificent Humanity: What the Pope Wants the Tech Industry to Hear

What are we hoping to build with AI? What is our end goal for the people using it? And what will that entail for human dignity, labour, democracy, and the common good? Join us for a lunchtime panel on faith and AI as part of Leeds Digital Festival.

What to expect

A lunchtime panel on Pope Leo XIV's encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, the Vatican's first on artificial intelligence, and what it says about work, dignity and who benefits. Two academics, two practitioners, chaired by the church's own minister — explicitly for people of all faiths and none.

Part of Leeds Digital Festival, free, with a tight running order: doors 12:15, panel 12:30, questions at 1:10, done by 1:30. Bring lunch, drinks provided. An hour to think about the bigger questions rather than the sprint, in one of the more striking rooms in Leeds.
