Digital health is not new, but the technologies enabling it are evolving rapidly. Uncritical adoption of emerging technologies can lead to wasted resources, and worse, potential harm.
Professor Ophir Frieder on AI systems actually deployed in healthcare, and what went wrong on the way — his framing is that uncritical adoption wastes money at best and does harm at worst. Frieder is a Georgetown computer scientist with 150-odd granted patents, so this leans practical rather than speculative.
Forty-five minutes of talk, fifteen of questions, then drinks. Free but ticketed, at the University of Glasgow's Advanced Research Centre. Useful if you are anywhere near health data or regulated deployment; less so if you want general AI strategy.
